A Community Repair Corner at a festival aims to: (1) reduce waste by repairing items during the event; (2) improve visitor experience by fixing essential items and (3) connect people to local repair cafés and repair networks.

Based on real-world experience from events like the Cambridge Folk Festival and Boomtown Fair, Frank & Clare have written a practical toolkit for organising a Community Repair Corner (CRC) at a festival. The toolkit describes all the steps, from securing festival buy-in to sourcing the right tools & spares, to all the practical administrative bits.

The idea of this toolkit is to give budding organisers some ideas to get started, but take from it what’s useful and leave what isn’t. Every event will be different, and whether it’s a music or book festival, car rally or County Show, it’s a brilliant opportunity to reach new people with the idea of fixing rather than ditching.

If you have any questions about the toolkit or want to find out more, feel free to reach out to Frank or Clare. Also consider supporting the authors behind this free resource, through The Repair Finder or Repair Café Portsmouth.
